Setting up the basics: Shipping Zones, Regions, Rates

Once you've installed Postcode Shipping you're ready to make your first Shipping Zones, Regions and Rates. Follow this guide to learn the basics.

You'll find detailed articles about Shipping Zones , Regions and Rates on our support site, but right now we'll walk you through the process of creating one of each, so you know your way around the app and you've go the basics down.

Here we go:

From your Postcode Shipping dashboard, click Create a Shipping Zone.

Give the Shipping Zone a title 'Australia' and choose Australia from the list of countries. Click Select Countries, then either use the search bar or scroll to find Australia. Once you've selected it, click Set countries.

Click Save Shipping Zone in the top right.

The option to 'Add a Region' will become available. Click Add a Region.

Give the new Region a title of 'Melbourne CBD'

In the 'Rule Matches' field enter the postcode '3000'.

Click Save region at the top right.

At the bottom of the same page the option to 'Add a Rate' becomes available. Click Add a Rate.

Give the new Rate a title 'Express', make the Rate type 'Flat' and enter the price '10' in the Rate field.

Click Save rate at the top right.

Congratulations! You've now created your first Shipping Zone ('Australia'), your first Region within that Shipping Zone ('Melbourne CBD' which includes any addresses with the postcode 3000), and your first Rate for the that Region ('Express' for $10).

If someone were to checkout in your Shopify store now, they would only receive a shipping rate (of $10) if their delivery address postcode was 3000.

Now it's time for you to delete this Shipping Zone (the Region & Rate will be deleted automatically with it) and to create your own. Shipping Zones, Regions and Rates are powerful tools when you know how to use them. Find out more about how they work, read the related articles below.

Once you've set up your Shipping Zones, Regions and Rates in Postcode Shipping, you should set up your Shipping Zones in Shopify and enable Postcode Shipping to provide your rates.
